KING SOMBRA

Sombra was a powerful umbrum unicorn stallion who once conquered the Crystal Empire by means of mind-controlling the masses. He was eventually conquered by Celestia and Luna, but not before casting a spell that banished the Crystal City and all its inhabitants into limbo for a millennium. When the spell finally wore off and the city returned, the citizens were still somewhat listless and depressed, and Princess Cadance and Shining Armor were sent by Celestia to take charge. However, Sombra was also making a comeback and Cadance's magic was hard pressed to keep him at bay. Eventually, through the efforts of Twilight Sparkle who found the Crystal Heart, and Spike who managed to get it to Cadance, Sombra was defeated once more. However, his essence was again conserved in his shattered horn.

Sombra was fully revived years later by Grogar to fight alongside several other powerful villains to conquer Equestria. When Sombra mind-controlled Twilight, he used her to destroy the Elements of Harmony, but he made the mistake of ordering her to "destroy these fools". She took it very literally and could only perceive one fool – him! Twilight utterly obliterated Sombra for all time.
