DERPY HOOVES a.k.a. MUFFINS

Derpy is a pegasus mare and is Ponyville's resident mailmare. Her most striking features are her misaligned eyes which are presumed to be the cause of her great clumsiness due to distorting her vision. Although there have been many claims of sightings of letters falling out of her bags or parcels being subject to horrendous accidents, there has never been an actual documented case of anything entrusted to her care not being delivered or arriving in a damaged state. She has the reputation for being able to deliver anything anywhere, with testimonials from the changeling queens who have no idea how she managed to find their hidden hives, and from Discord who gets letters in his home dimension. She has even delivered to Tartarus!

Despite her handicap, she is unfailingly cheerful and helpful, doing her job with great dedication. She is a beloved fixture of the town, and her obesession for muffins has earned her that nickname. She has a unicorn daughter named Dinky whom she dotes on.

Derpy has a big secret though. Prince Mark Wells learned from Celestia and Luna that, while in another dimension, they had dealt with an invasion of demons from the Fifth Ring of Tartarus. However, one demon had been dwelling peacefully in disguise among the citizens of Ponyville for many decades and had swept them into a pocket dimension to protect them from the invading horde until the alicorns dealt with them. That one demon was permitted to stay and continues to serve as that dimension's mailmare. Mark now has some idea of how Derpy might manage her improbable feats.

And yes, Derpy has an anthro universe counterpart who is just as strange and silly.
