October 2006 - "Morningside 4 Life!"
I've been having a lot of fun over at the FurAffinity (FA) art community of late. I am especially enjoying the part about uploading artwork without having to hand-hack HTML, as well as having a 'journal' to update (again without hand-hacking HTML). The "Favorites" function there is pretty good too, as not only do you get a better indication of what people actually like, by seeing the favorites of people you like you can see other people's art that you might like as well.
Another thing FurAffinity has in its favour is the ability to rate individual pictures as "General", "Mature" and "Adult" - and that by default, casual 'guest' visitors only have the ability to view "General" art. In other words, you have to actively join up AND set yourself as an adult AND to look at higher rated stuff - which is a better gatekeeper on the adult stuff than the "warning" system in place here. So I am giving some consideration to deactivating the "Adult" sections here for a bit more personal protection from inadvertent snoopers who either a) shouldn't be here, or b) I don't want to expose my art to. But then again, I'd like to keep a backup in case FA goes down.
The rest of the site (and my VCL account) will continue, but my old Yerf account is effectively abandoned - I haven't uploaded anything there for three years and most of what I do at the moment isn't suitable for there anyway.
