Whiptail Wallabies Mating

The female stretches, presenting herself for mating. The male scratches at her tail to let her know he is serious about mounting her. If she is in heat, a previously coy female will assume the lordosis position and invite the male to mount her.

The male covers her, holding her in place with her forepaws. His prehensile penis is not yet fully erect. Macropods need a prehensile penis to get past the thick base of the tail.

It was at this moment that the female had enough and broke free of the male's grasp. In spite of this, she soon presented herself for mating again.
