PENUMBRA

Penumbra is a batpony mare with coloration resembling that of a flying fox bat. Unlike most batponies, she prefers the daytime hours and wears dark sunglasses to protect her sensitive eyes from the sunlight. She became Prince Mark Wells’ bodyguard when Crimson Boulder was dismissed. Although having a sexual preference for mares, Penumbra is nevertheless bisexual but not sufficiently interested in stallions to pursue one. However, she wished to have a foal and persuaded Mark Wells to sire one. He agreed on the condition that she join his herd which she did and subsequently bore him a batpony son named Verdant Wells.
