Greetings! Welcome to Badger's Burrow.
It would be an understatement
of exquisite delicacy to say that Badger is not an artist. But Badger
enjoys furry art, and commenting on it in the furry newsgroups.
The response to these comments
has been both surprising and gratifying, and (to Badger's pride and pleasure)
resulted in drawings of Badger from the hands of various artists, displayed
elsewhere in this site.
Badger writes, however. For
his own amusement, hitherto, but it is his intention to post some of his
handiwork in this site, starting with "Bitch-Boy", a coming-of-age story.
This story features two firsts:
it's Badger's maiden effort at furry fiction; and it's the first story
he's written that has been circulated (privately) for comment. One indirect
result of that is this website, created for Badger by a wonderfully talented
lad who is in serious contention for the most adorable and darling fur
under the sun, known to the world as HiHo Roo. This wonderful artist (and
wonderful person) was inspired enough by "Bitch-Boy" to embellish it with
drawings and also take matters into his own paws to make the work publicly
available here on the Internet.
Before HiHo there was Charon2.
This young man's art has delighted Badger no end ever since his first
glimpse of it, and continues to do so. Two of his youthful drawings inspired
the germ of Bitch-Boy's plot: take one young Siberian Husky (cute but
straight) and combine with a young wolf and a young fox (also cute, not
so straight)....
So far from his being displeased
with Badger's knock-off, the story inspired some further art from Charon2's
hand, including a double portrait of Badger and Charon2 himself, which
was actually the very first image of Badger by a furry artist. (Some of
his other drawings relating to the story remain unfinished, which is a
huge pity but no new thing among furry artists, alas.)
Whether the writing lives
up to these artists' delightful work is a question you will have to decide
for yourself.
Further furry: a fantasy,
"Lop and Me", set on the third planet of Gamma Draconis. Beautifully
presented, against all odds, by HiHo. It's based on nothing but the author's
diseased imagination; the story "Everybody Loves Luther", with
embellishments by HiHo, was inspired by a request from Paf for a story
featuring a badger (guess who) and a Dalmatian (again, guess who ... though
the author begs the reader to realize that ALL characters in the story
are purely fictional)
For purposes of print fiction,
Badger goes by the nom-de-plume (pomme-de-terre?) of André Blaireau.
Please note, furs and furless
alike: All verbal and artistic creations in this site are protected by
